They work while the Sialk window is focused, and nowhere else. Sialk never takes a key from the rest of your machine, so nothing here can fire while you are in your editor.

The one to remember
\ toggles the selected layer. It is the fastest thing on this page in a set,
and it is reversible, which is what you want at the moment you are not sure.
