A visual that listens, beside the clip set. Resolume runs the clubs and plays clips better than anything here. What it cannot do is run a visual that hears the room - Sialk does, live, picked or written, on a screen any rig will take.
What Sialk gives you that Resolume does not
- A browser source. Resolume's sources are generative, capture devices, NDI, Spout, Syphon and the video router. A web page gets in through an external capture tool, and that chain has struggled with WebGL since 2017. Sialk runs the page itself.
- Live code, not a bounce. A
sketch.glslorsketch.jsplays as a layer and reacts to the room. Bounced to a video file, the same work has decided what it will do before the night starts. - The audio inside the sketch, under names that never change.
- £199 once, or free. Not €799.
What Resolume gives you that Sialk does not
- Clips, played better. If your set is clips, Resolume plays them better than Sialk does, and it is not close.
- Mapping, slicing, and a mature cue workflow.
- A content ecosystem and a thousand nights behind it.
