Privacy

Sialk holds as little personal data as it can. That is the cheapest compliance strategy available and also the honest one, so this page is short.

Last updated: 4 September 2026.

Who is responsible

Sialk is run by SIALK LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, number 17427982, which is the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR. The company was incorporated on 29 August 2026; before that date the controller was Bashir Zahedi as an individual, and this page said so.

This website

Nothing on this site is recorded. There are no analytics, no cookies, no tracking pixels, and no third-party scripts other than the web fonts named below. You are not asked to identify yourself and nothing asks you to sign in.

The microphone demos process audio entirely in your browser. The inspector and the example sketches read your microphone to draw what they draw. That audio is analysed on your own machine and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere, not to Sialk, not to anyone. Closing the page ends it. You can verify this: the source is public and the page makes no network requests while running.

Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as a consequence of your browser fetching them. That is the only third party this site involves.

Hosting and server logs. This site is hosted by Vercel Inc., a company based in the United States, which acts as a data processor under its Data Processing Addendum. SIALK LTD remains the controller.

Serving a page to you means Vercel receives your IP address, location information derived from it, and basic information about your browser and device, the ordinary consequence of any web request reaching any server. Vercel uses it to deliver the site and to protect it from attack.

Vercel does not publish a fixed retention period for this, stating only that it keeps information "for the minimum necessary period to fulfil our legal and contractual obligations". That is their answer rather than a number, and it is repeated here as such rather than dressed up as one. Their notice is at https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-notice.

No analytics are switched on. Vercel offers Web Analytics and Speed Insights; neither is enabled for this site, so no page views, sessions or performance samples are collected.

Your data leaves the UK. Vercel processes in the United States. Transfers are covered by the standard contractual clauses in their Data Processing Addendum. If that is not acceptable to you, the site can be read without JavaScript and nothing here requires you to identify yourself.

The Sialk application

The beta holds no account and sends nothing. Every run writes a log to ~/Documents/Sialk/logs/ on your own disk: the machine, the GPU, the frame rate, dropped frames. Nothing about you, your sketches or their content. It leaves your machine only if you attach it to the feedback form yourself.

Your work is yours. Sketches, shows and anything made with Sialk belong entirely to you. Sialk does not upload, inspect or store them.

When paid tiers arrive, this section will say what changes before it does: the data held will be your email address, the name on the purchase and its state; payment details will be handled by the seller of record, never by Sialk; any telemetry will be opt-in and off by default.

How long data is kept

For as long as your licence or subscription runs, and then for as long as tax and accounting law requires records of the transaction.

Your rights

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and object to how it is used. Write to the address above and you will get an answer within one month.

If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the change will be described here with the date. The version you agreed to continues to apply to you until you are told otherwise.
