Releases

Every build, what changed in it, and what was measured. Newest first.

1.0.3 · macOS, Apple silicon and Intel · 10 October 2026

Completes the security update in 1.0.2. Install it over 1.0.2.

What changed

  • After too many wrong PINs on the phone remote, nobody can try again for a minute, then two, then four, and so on. In 1.0.2 a new PIN alone did not slow a guesser down.

1.0.2 · macOS, Apple silicon and Intel · 10 October 2026

A security update. Install it over 1.0.1.

What changed

  • The phone remote's PIN is six digits. Too many wrong guesses from anywhere change it and sign every phone out; a phone stays signed in for twelve hours at most; turning the remote off signs everyone out. The remote also refuses requests that do not come from its own page.
  • A playlist opens only its own media files to the app, nothing else on the Mac.
  • Prepare for the wall reads local files only, never the network.
  • The app can no longer be started as a plain script by another program.
  • Electron 43.7.9, with the browser engine's latest fixes.

1.0.1 · macOS, Apple silicon and Intel · 9 October 2026

The first build under its own name, Playery, and a day of using it like an operator would.

What changed

  • Its own name. The app is Playery now, with Sialk LTD in About. Your playlists, settings and licence stay where they were.
  • Take changes only the wall. Paused stays paused and a blackout holds, so a file can be taken behind black and shown when you lift it.
  • Next marks the file that plays when the wall's file ends, not the row you selected.
  • A pause holds its frame unless you choose black in Settings. A choice you already made is kept.
  • Stop at the end of a list no longer starts the first file by itself.
  • A file that will not play says so in its row, and Take will not send it to the wall.
  • Free says it is free: a card under the playlists with Buy and Key, and a line in the status bar when the cap leaves files out.
  • A wrong licence code gets an answer, and the app says Checking while it asks.
  • Quieter colour, smaller keys, fewer words, the app's own dropdown menus, and a narrow window that shortens instead of stacking.

1.0.0 · macOS, Apple silicon and Intel · 9 October 2026

The beta is over: free and bought, both from the same download.

What changed

  • Bought once, £49: no limit on playlists or files, the right to use it for paid and commercial work, and every update. Bought on this site; Paddle sells it for Sialk.
  • The Licence pane is there in a free room too, with a Buy key.
  • A build for Intel Macs, beside the one for Apple silicon.
  • Codes short to type, SPL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, checked once and then kept on the Mac. The long offline key still works on a Mac that is never online.

0.1.9 - public beta · macOS, Apple Silicon · 14 September 2026

The running order always belongs to a playlist, and a playlist is always on disk.

What changed

  • Adding a file with no playlist open makes one first, Untitled, lit in the column, and the file goes into it. New Playlist (⌘N) makes a file the same way. At the free cap, Add files goes quiet and says to open one or delete one.
  • Written through. A playlist is written to its file on every change, so what the column says is what is on disk, and a power cut loses nothing. Save is only needed to name an Untitled that has no file yet.

0.1.8 - public beta · macOS, Apple Silicon · 14 September 2026

The column is files only, and the cap is three playlists again.

What changed

  • Files only in the column. An unsaved Untitled is named in the status bar and lights no row. When nothing is open yet, the + makes its new playlist the open one, so the files you add next go into it.
  • Three playlists of three files, free, as the first build said. The playlists in the folder count; the + and Duplicate go quiet at three and say why. Nothing already there is cut. A key lifts the cap.

0.1.7 - public beta · macOS, Apple Silicon · 14 September 2026

An evening with 0.1.6: the column, the wall's inverse, and the bin.

What changed

  • Take it off the wall. A key on the PROGRAM band, shown only while something is on the wall, takes it off.
  • The + adds an Untitled playlist, a file in the folder, last in the column, its name ready to type in the row. No sheet; the open playlist stays open.
  • Rename where it is. Double-click a playlist, or press its pencil; Enter or leaving commits, Escape gives the name back.
  • Playlists drag into the order the room wants, and the order is kept.
  • Duplicate, ⌘D, on the Edit menu: the playlist you last clicked is copied beside itself, otherwise the cued file is copied after itself.
  • Quieter. The open playlist is a raised row with a thin line in the lit colour, not a fill; both lists share one row height; the document's name in the status bar starts where the running order does; a still's seconds have no box and read grey.
  • The bin is the one mark for removing anything, on the running order's rows too.

0.1.6 - public beta · macOS, Apple Silicon · 14 September 2026

Four things seen in an afternoon with 0.1.5.

What changed

  • The + adds a playlist. It asks for a name and writes a new, empty playlist file under it to Documents, Sialk, Player, Playlists, then opens it. A name the folder already has gets a number. New Playlist on the File menu is unchanged: an Untitled that exists nowhere until it is saved.
  • No projector, no second window. The output window stays hidden until a projector is chosen; PROGRAM inside the window is the picture. It appears, fullscreen, the moment one is, and comes back mid-file.
  • The beta mark is a β again. The uppercase lockup had turned it into a B.
  • The running order's empty words are one line.

0.1.5 - public beta · macOS, Apple Silicon · 14 September 2026

The mark, redrawn.

What changed

  • The icon and the playlist's document icon carry the founder's redrawn mark: seven orange bars in an arrow, the two small squares at the tips gone. Nothing else changed.

0.1.4 - public beta · macOS, Apple Silicon · 13 September 2026

A playlist opened and saved like a show, and the playlist file's own name and icon.

What changed

  • Untitled at launch, nothing remembered. Playery opens on an empty playlist that exists nowhere on disk, the way Operatour opens on an untitled show. Save asks for a name and a place once, then writes silently; Save As, New Playlist and Open Playlist are on the File menu with their keys; a playlist double-clicked anywhere opens where it is. Closing with unsaved changes asks once. The status bar names the document.
  • The column lists playlist files. The playlists in Documents, Sialk, Player, Playlists, the open one lit, Untitled above them while unsaved. Rename and delete act on the file; delete asks once and sends it to the Bin. Taking a file out of the running order asks the same way.
  • Opening hours name their playlist by file. Choose the saved playlist the room plays; at the open time the room opens it and starts from the top.
  • A playlist is a .slkp file, with its own document icon, Player's mark on the page. A .sialkplaylist from 0.1.3 still opens and is saved as .slkp from then on.
  • The beta mark beside the wordmark, as Operator wears it; the Licence tab out of sight until there is something to paste.
  • The cap is three files in a playlist. A playlist is a file the room keeps anywhere, so playlists themselves are not counted.

0.1.3 - public beta · macOS, Apple Silicon · 12 September 2026

A way in for the files the wall could not play, and a place for a key.

What changed

  • Prepare for the wall. A video the wall cannot play, ProRes or DNxHD, or would play silent, AC-3, DTS or TrueHD, shows a Prepare key on its row. One press re-encodes it on the ffmpeg already on this Mac, shows the progress on the row, and puts the result in the running order in the original's place. Without ffmpeg, the key says the one command that installs it. Nothing is bundled.
  • A licence pane. Paste the key from your email under Settings, Licence, and the three-by-three cap lifts. Checked on this Mac, never over the network.

0.1.2 - public beta · macOS, Apple Silicon · 12 September 2026

A room that comes back by itself, and a record of what it showed.

What changed

  • Start with this Mac. A switch under Opening hours makes Playery a login item, so a room whose Mac logs in by itself comes back after a power cut and the schedule takes it from there.
  • The log, in words. Every run writes a log under Documents, Sialk, logs; Settings shows it as sentences: what was on the wall and when, and what went wrong.
  • Playlists are files. Each playlist is a document in Documents, Sialk, Player, Playlists. Copy one to a stick with its films beside it and open it on another Mac; deleting one moves it to the Bin.
  • The silent-audio warning now shows on the wall's own strip, not only on the card.

0.1.1 - public beta · macOS, Apple Silicon · 12 September 2026

The first public build.

What changed

  • Add a film or a folder of stills, put them in order, press Take, and nothing but the picture reaches the projector.
  • Opening hours, a slate, subtitles from a file, a phone remote behind a PIN.
  • Signed and notarised; open the disk image and drag Playery to Applications.
  • Free, in beta: three playlists of three files each, no watermark, no time limit, no account.
