A sketch that runs in anybody's setup, unchanged. vvvv gamma has the same mechanism as Sialk Operator - Chromium on a shared texture, data pushed into the page, and it is free for non-commercial use. What it does not have is a shared vocabulary, so every sketch is tied to the patch that made it. Sialk Operator publishes the names, and the sketch travels.
What Sialk Operator gives you that vvvv does not
- A published audio vocabulary.
window.sialk.audiohas fixed names, frozen at v1 and only ever added to. In vvvv,ExecuteJavaScript(string)sends any string, so each artist invents the names, the scaling and the rate, and no two sketches run in each other's patch. - A sketch that travels. The same folder runs in anybody's Sialk Operator, and in a browser tab through the shim, unchanged.
- macOS. vvvv is Windows only.
- One screen, one drop. No patch to build around the browser layer.
What vvvv gives you that Sialk Operator does not
- A full node-based environment around the browser layer. Sialk Operator plays code you wrote and nothing else.
- Data pushed into the page from a patch, any way you like, with a query handler giving the page a channel back.
- Windows. Sialk Operator's beta is macOS.
